As mentioned in Nick’s previous post, silverorange is proud to have recently launched the redesigned and redeveloped SloanMusic.com - the official site for Canadian rock band, Sloan.
I thought a few notes might be of interest to fellow developers; The site makes use of the two main projects featured here on our labs site: our weblog platform and photo gallery system (as Nick mentioned). It’s been cool to see both systems in a different context. Also, as we’ve been getting a fair number of inquiries, I’d like to clarify that neither the weblog platform nor the gallery system is available for download or purchase (read why).
The Sloan site also makes use to a technology that has become a real time saver in our company, RSS. The site features four RSS feeds (possible with more to come):
Most often used to syndicate weblogs, the simplicity of RSS has made it suitable for the various other types of content on the site, including photography.
Probably the coolest aspect of the new SloanMusic site is the involvement of the fans in the content. Fans can submit reviews and photos of shows. There are already loads of them on the site and some of the fan photos are surprisingly good.
All in all, it has been a very cool project to work on.
